We had the opportunity to review a bible made just for children. It's called "The Big Picture Story Bible". It's written by David Helm and illustrated by Gail Schoonmaker. When my son saw the book he immediately picked it up and began flipping through the pages. As he flipped through each page he was amazed at the pictures he saw for each story he has been hearing read and taught to him through the years.
This children's bible has the Old and New Testaments and each section is broken up into parts which makes it easy to have a stopping point to pick back up with the reading the next day. It can be enjoyed by kids of all ages because of the small paragraphs and simple words used. The Big Picture Story bible "takes you through the stories of the Bible with colorful pictures so the kids will see the big picture of God's love for them".
I like this children's bible better than any others we've had in the past. My son retains what he learns because the illustrations and overall tone of the story really go together. It's like the reader is talking to him and he can see himself in that time. Every day he can't wait to read the next section from where we left off the day before. He gets so excited to hear "what happens next". The Big Picture Story Bible sells for $24.99 at Crossway.org.
