Heads Up Now!

Those of you who have read many of my posts before know that I have 1 child and he has special needs. He has AS (aspergers syndrome) and ADHD. He struggled with language delay, hyperactivity, had problems with comprehending, as well as struggles with his gross and fine motor skills. When he was in school he needed aids to help him learn. We also had speech and occupational therapists come out to our home to work with him a couple evenings as well as over summer break. Every bit of help he could get we made sure to take advantage of. Eventually traditional school didn't work out best for him so now we homeschool. He loves every bit of it.
Melinda Boring knows what it is like to work with children who have special needs. She's also mom who homeschooled 2 of her children with special needs. Her company Heads Up Now! is designed with all of our special needs kids in mind.

Whether you have a child with ADD/ADHD, Aspergers/Autism, speech delays, sensory dysfunction, or problems with gross or fine motor skills, there is something here for everyone. We tried the Heads Up Now Readers and Frames that helps with focusing attention.

This is the "Top of the Line" reader. It helps when your child is reading and he needs to stay on one line of a reading text. It comes in a choice of yellow or blue. The price for them are $2.00 each.

This is the "Double Time" reader. It helps your child to stay on task because it only show two lines at a time of a reading text. This also comes in a choice of yellow or blue. The price for each is $2.00.

The Heads Up Now Frames help direct attention and focus by placing them over a section of your child's work. The area is framed in so that when he or she looks away they can easily find their place again. It comes in a variety of colors shown below. The large frames are 4 x 41/2" rectangles and the small ones are 4 x 9" squares. The price these are $2.00 each.

These are Heads Up Now "Readers". There is a strip in the middle to help with focus when reading so you can stay focused on one line. It comes in a variety of colors: red, yellow, blue, green, pink, orange, and even clear. They also sell for $2.00 each.

These come with a clear removable film and make great bookmarks too. My son loves using them when he does his work. He goes looking for one of the readers when he's reading a book. I find the square frames help when he's doing math problems as well. His favorite colors are the yellow and the red ones. Another neat thing you can do with these if you have multiple colors you can overlap them to make new colors.
If you have a special needs child, I recommend you check out the huge variety of neat things Heads Up Now! has to offer.
