Washington (Apple Delight)

This week in our study of the Western States is Washington. The capital of Washington is Olympia. Did you know that Square Dancing is the state dance for Washington as well 19 other states? Washington receives lots of rainfall in the winter months. Just about everyone has heard about the delicious apples that comes from Washington. They produce more apples than any other state. How about a quick and easy way to enjoy some Washington apples.

Easy Apple Delight

Ingredients:
1 apple, peeled and sliced
1/2 Tbsp butter
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Preparation:
Place apple slices in microwave proof bowl. Place butter on top of apples. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Microwave for 30 seconds or until apples have softened.

Believe it or not this is our first time having plain baked apples without it being an apple pie. I also added some nutmeg to our apples. It was requested that I make this one of our regular snacks. Earlier this week we had apple pork chops. They were so yummy! We did not know what we were missing by not having apples cooked in different ways. If you are from Washington we would love for you to share a recipe with us to try. I'll be back next week to tell you what's next in our study of the Western States. Thank you again for stopping by to learn along with us.

Really...I'll have to try it with ice cream next time. I love ice cream :)

I didn't cook these in the microwave like the recipe shows. I actually did mine in a small crockpot on high for about an hour.
