Our 8th year homeschooling….
We are officially doing high school. HIGH School….am I really saying those words? Is this for real? Yes it’s a reality now. I can’t believe I’m back to feeling the way I did when we first started homeschooling 8 years ago. Nervous, uncertain, anxious, and whatever else goes in the mix. I didn’t imagine this time would come so quickly. *Sigh* we can’t go back…must proceed forward. Workboxes are still part of our regular routine. These continue to be a need for organizational purposes. What’s in the boxes this year? Let’s see what we have….
Bible- The Most Important thing You'll Ever Study along with Notebooking through the Old and New Testament.
Math- Math U See Epsilon (we’re a little behind in Math but it’s okay because we’re working at his pace).
Language Arts- We didn’t get to Word Roots A2 last year so we’re definitely doing it this year. Once we’ve finished we’ll start Easy Grammar Plus. We’re also working through Sequential Spelling 5 and may get to 6 before the end of the school year.
History- We’re continuing our study about America’s History. My son asked to learn about some of the wars so we’re doing a unit on 4 of them. I stated last year we will be putting together a notebook that will have things about how our government works on all levels (state, federal, ect.). We will keep adding to this notebook each year.
Science- We’re doing Apologia’s: Exploring Creation with General Science 2.
Health/P.E.- We will exercise, study about health and taking care of our bodies.
Life Skills- daily chores, learn to cook, iron clothes, ect,
Typing- We're picking back up with Keyboarding for the Christian School since we did not finish last year.
Foreign Language- We will pick back up with Visual Latin 1. We will have completed all 30 lessons by the end of this school year.
This pretty much sums up our year. Lots of learning going on and more work load for him than ever. Praying he can handle the work load and for God’s Will in his life, our home, and school year. Thanks for reading. May God bless your families school year too!
