Planet 316 is a company that seeks to develop fun, interactive games and lessons which are infused with faith and family values. They “aim to creatively communicate the message of Jesus Christ to people across the globe” by providing faith-based learning in the form of computer games. Planet 316 wants to help the whole family have experiences where they can connect with each other. In Proverbs 17:22 it says “A joyful heart is good medicine…”. They are providing a way for that to happen through their Daily Bible Jigsaw. It was exciting to get a chance at doing my first app review and a Bible Game at that.
The Daily Bible Jigsaw is a free puzzle game app you can play on your iPhone/Android, iPad/tablet, or on your PC/laptop as a Facebook game. There are several ways you can get access to this game. It can be downloaded and played through these platforms:
* Google Play (Android devices)
* Apple App Stores (iOS devices)
* Facebook (Mac or PC computer web browser- works best on Chrome and Firefox)
* Facebook Gameroom (PC computer…Facebook’s new PC game platform)
I did not know if my son was interested in playing daily jigsaw puzzles so I had already planned this would be all mine to enjoy. To get started I went to Google Play to download the app to my Android phone. I really don’t like having more than one game app on my phone because they seem to take up too much space. I made an exception to do this review. I also opted not to play this on Facebook. For one I don’t like using Facebook on my phone, and two I don’t like playing games on Facebook because of how they seem to make my laptop act up. For review purposes Planet 316 added 500 free puzzle coins (worth $39.99) to my account to help me get their full puzzle experience. Once the app was installed I was all ready to let the fun begin.
I logged into the game using my email I used to download it through Google Play. Once the game loads up it shows a new puzzle for the day. You get to play one puzzle a day for free. I like that I get a reminder on my phone to play each day. There were times I got so busy that I forgot all about the puzzle and the reminder really help. Next I hit the play button and 30 pieces of a puzzle comes up.
I noticed the game comes with some neat features. On the left top is a box with the amount of coins I have to use. These coins can be used for a variety of things like the assist tools located next to the coins. I’ll explain more about these in a moment. Beside the tools is a clock. This shows how much time is passing by as you are working on the puzzle. Another note about the coins. You can use your coins to play achieved puzzles (from previous months or days you missed), or you can earn free coins through rewards (mentioned below) and by watching short promo ads.
The assist tools featured are the rotate, guide, sweep, magnet, and edges. These are not free to use. They will cost you some of your coins. I tried them all at least once but found two to be my favorite ones to use. The rotate tool automatically turns all your pieces around in the right position for you. The edges tool takes away all but the edge pieces. This helps you be able to get your frame put together first. Once you put on the last edge piece all your other pieces appear back on the board. From there you can finish up your puzzle. There is also a power piece that lights up all shiny for you to connect with another piece. If you connect it in time you earn a free coin.
I love the background music that is played. It’s a soft instrumental that just soothes your soul. When you have completed the puzzle to reveal a picture that is so colorful and pretty. The fanfare and scripture just makes you smile. Next you click to continue where you get to see your time. There is an option to share your completed puzzle with Bible verse on Facebook but I don’t use that option. If you hit a new record you will be awarded. Awards are for things like you hit a new score in how fast you completed a puzzle, or you hit a new record in how many puzzles you have completed. At the end of each days free daily puzzle you will see your calendar for that month fill up with a puzzle piece letting you know you have completed that days challenge. I started out solving my puzzles in under 5 minutes. Now I can do them in under 3. Woohoo!
Games like this are my favorite types to play. I look forward to my daily puzzle fix. Other than one small issue, I had a great experience with the app. Customer Service emailed me back with an apology and solution and even added a few extra coins to my account for my troubles. Another thing I also loved was that no one else in my home wanted to play "my" game but they did notice the soothing music. I have noticed my son and hubby listening in while I take a moment to play. They have even commented on how calming the music sounds. Thanks to Daily Bible Jigsaw from Planet 316, I now have a daily jigsaw puzzle addiction! As always thank you readers for stopping by to read my review. Other members of the Homeschool Review Crew had a chance to review Planet 316’s Daily Bible Jigsaw as well.
