Hello everyone! Welcome to our homeschooling blog. We are a Christian family of 3. My husband and I have been teaching our special needs son at home since August 2007. Before then he went to public school for preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade. He is an auditory learner with HFA (High Functioning Autism). We're eclectic/relaxed homeschoolers with a bit of Unschooling in the mix. Because we're not big on using any set curricula, we use whatever will fit into our son's learning style. We enjoy Notebooking, doing Topical and Unit Studies, playing educational games, watching educational T.V./videos, and we've switched from traditional Lapbooking to making Lapbook Journals now that our son is older.
My son's favorite colors are red and black as you can see by the colors this is typed in. He loves reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Novel series. He loves anything Marvel and DC Comics. He's fascinated about dates/time periods (especially anything that happened far back in history). You will mostly find him watching old T.V. shows/series, listening to old school music, being on the computer creating his own logos, and reading the Sunday Paper. His favorite things to read in the Sunday Paper is the front page, A&E, Sports, Weather, and most of all the Comics. His absolute favorite comic was Calvin and Hobbes. When they stopped printing them (years back) in the local newspaper he cried big tears. Several years ago we found him a 3 book collection of these comics at the store and bought it for him. He read them over and over again. He also loves joking around and making friends. He says one day he's going to write a story about his life. That should be interesting...LOL He's loving, caring, joyful, and not afraid to share what's on his mind.
Through our homeschooling journey we wish to reach out, encourage, and share resources as well as wisdom that would be of help to the homeschooling community. Have a look around and check out our lapbooks, unit studies, homeschool reviews, Biblical, and Helpful Links (located under the blog archives) on the right side margin. It is also our desire to gather more insight and information from other homeschooling families who have already walked the path that we are now on. We welcome any ideas and suggestions that will help us celebrate our son's strengths and strengthen his weak areas. Thank you for joining in as we educate our son more about God and His Will for his life.
