Maryland (Golden Apple Oatmeal)

This week in our study of Southeastern states is Maryland. The capital of Maryland is Annapolis. Did you know that Maryland agriculture is Maryland's largest commercial industry? Both oats and apples are an important part of that industry. Here's a yummy recipe where you can use both of them...

Golden Apple Oatmeal

  • 1/3 cup apple juice
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/8 tsp. salt (optional)
  • Dash of ground cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup quick-cooking rolled oats

Combine apple juice, water, cinnamon and nutmeg in small saucepan; bring to boil. Stir in oatmeal and cook 1 minute.
Cover pan and let stand several minutes before serving.
Makes 1 serving

If you are from Maryland feel free to share a recipe with us to try. I'll be back next week to share what's next in our study of the Southeastern states. Thank you for stopping by to learn along with us.
