"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." ~Romans 12:2 NKJV~

I’m back with another update in our studies of the 7 continents of the world. Yes we are still at it but life happened so I’m just now getting around to this post. We had already covered this continent months ago but I never had time to do this post. Now on to the good stuff….

Did you know that Australia is the smallest continent in the world? The longest distance is 2,400 miles from east to west and the greatest distance north to south is 2,000 miles. Did you know Australia is about the size of the United States? That doesn’t include Hawaii and Alaska. As a matter of fact Australia is not only a continent but also a country. It’s the 6th largest country in the world (by landmass). It is made up of 6 states and 2 territories. Did you know Australia is called the land down under because it is below the equator? While we’re having cold weather here in the U.S. it is hot in Australia. Did you know that Australia was once a British colony? Most of the people are of British or Irish ancestry.

Update: 3/15/13
We finally got around to preparing our Australian meal and my oh my was it tasty. Here is what we had:

My beautiful picture
These are sausage rolls. When they were cooking the house smelled lovely. If you cut them even smaller they could serve as a yummy appetizer for any occasion. My son and I ate it with ketchup like the recipe suggested but hubby ate them plain. They are tasty either way. The leftovers were even great the next day.

My beautiful picture
This is green beans and carrots sautéed in butter and garlic. I used baby carrots that I split in half instead of cutting regular carrots into strips.

This was not part of our Australian recipes but we wanted to end the meal with a sweet dessert we all would love. These are peanut butter cup cookies.

My beautiful picture
These are Scotch Eggs. We had these for breakfast with some homemade waffles. They were delicious. It’s boiled eggs with sausage meat wrapped around them and coated in bread crumbs. They taste great with a mustard dipping sauce.

As you can see we learned a lot and enjoyed some great tasting although fattening foods. Be sure to come back to see what else we are learning in our study of the 7 continents.
