We’re halfway through our school year and I figured I would post an update on how our daily schedule is looking since my post at the beginning of the school year. As of this point our weekly schedule looks like this":
Planner/Calendar- He’s still doing some freestyle work before we get started for the day.
Bible- Who Am I? And What Am I Doing Here? (we’re halfway through this now)
Everyday Idioms- He’s still learning new ones daily. It’s interesting to see his interpretation of what he thinks certain sayings mean. Many times he’s way off but there are many days he “hits the nail on the head”. LOL!
Math- MUS Delta w/notebooking (he’s almost near the end of this one).
Spelling- Vocabulary Spelling City (I give him a list of words to work through each week and he enjoys using the website)
Other days during the week---
Reading- One Minute Reader
L.A.- WriteShop Junior D (we’re halfway through this one)
Science- Zoology 2: Swimming Creatures of the 5th Day w/Notebooking (We seem to be working slow through this for some reason. This may go over into another school year).
Geography- 7 Continents of the World Unit Study (is done similar to our 50 States Unit Study. We’re learning so much with this study.)
History- Titanic Unit Study (my son asked to learn about this last year but there wasn’t time so we’re picking it up in time this year)
Foreign Language- My printer needs ink so we haven’t made a Spanish Lapbook to use with REAL Homeschool Spanish but it’s still in the works.
Health/Life Skills- Cooking Basics Lapbook (we’re taking our time with this because there’s some much kitchen safety for him to understand)
Art- He’s working on his drawing skills
Music- We finished A Young Scholar’s Guide to Composers but we’re still learning about different composers.
Computer- KidCoder (this one is still taking us time to get through)
We had some unexpected changes last year that threw off what I had planned for us to cover up to this point. Some things are taking more time to do than I had hoped. You never know what life will bring your way. It’s okay because no matter what’s going on there’s always an opportunity for learning if you make the most of your time and what’s at your disposal.
